Who is Visiting the Blog?

I am stealing, I mean benchmarking, from my friend Mark Graban over at the Lean Blog. He has an interesting post on the side of his blog where his readers can leave comments sharing information such as who they are, where they work, etc.

In the same spirit I would like to do something similar. So, if you feel so obliged please click on the “comments” link below and tell us as much or as little as you would like.

Here is a guide you can follow if you wish (freelancing is OK as well):

  1. Location (city/state/country)
  2. Company name / type of company (industry, size, etc.)
  3. Is your company more focused on Lean or Six Sigma, or a combination of both?
  4. How long you have been learning about Lean and Six Sigma?
  5. What is your biggest implementation challenge?
  6. Can you please offer at least one suggestion for how I can improve this blog?

    location: rhode island, usa
    company: manufacturers mart
    focus: i’m an editor production mgr. of a regional industrial trade tabloid, and my focus is on finding good online resources for my readership on all aspects of lean culture. by doing so, i’ve learned a great deal about methods that my help improve my own work environment, but i’m still in research mode… i’ll probably make an attempt at employing some techniques during my summer hiatus and write about the experience for our autumn production issue.
    learning: i’ve been reading about it in a superficial way for years, but just this month i decided a more in-depth investigation is necessary.
    improving the blog: it’s already pretty darn good. i’d say that you need to sustain your commitment to regular updates. i think your blog would also benefit from more traffic, and to that end, i plan to recommend your blog to our readership as a good web destination.

    You win the award for the first person to tell us about themself! Sadly I have a small budget and don’t have a prize for you… but honor is important too, right?! Thanks for the great advice. I am aiming to update the blog everyday during the week and sometimes on the weekend. I also hope to see traffic grow on the site and appreciate any help I can get from people linking to me and referring the blog. Thanks for stopping by!

    I haven’t kept up for the last week, but I thought I may as well still post.

    Company: Lilydale Foods (one of the larger poultry companies in Canada)
    Recently started focusing on lean..

    A Canuck, eh? I was born in Winnipeg and my Dad still lives there. I have a sister in Kalmoops, BC and another sister in Winnipeg by my Dad. Canada rocks.

    Another Winnipegian! When I first started with this company, I worked with a lean consultant from Winnipeg. I have long held a theory in my head that you folks are slowly taking over the world. I can’t explain it, but a disproportionate amount of people I’ve worked with lately have all come from there. VPs, CFOs, you name it.. 🙂
